Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on his team to remain relentless in their pursuit of Premier League leaders Liverpool, emphasizing the need for consistency in the second half of the season. The Gunners are determined to stay in contention for their first league title since 2004.

Arsenal’s Position in the Title Race

Currently sitting third in the standings with 36 points from 18 matches, Arsenal trails Liverpool by nine points and is one point behind second-placed Nottingham Forest, who have played an extra game. Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Brentford on Wednesday, Arteta underscored the importance of persistence.

“The title race doesn’t depend on us, but we must keep hammering away,” Arteta said. “We need to show up every day and stay consistent. If someone wins all their matches, we’ll congratulate them and prepare for the next season. History suggests that doesn’t often happen, so we’ll be ready to take advantage.”

Marked Improvement This Season

After finishing as runners-up in the past two campaigns, Arteta believes Arsenal has taken significant strides this season. He pointed to the team’s ability to navigate challenges such as red cards and injuries.

“We’ve already proven our growth this season,” he said. “If these challenges had come last season, it would have been much harder to maintain our standing across competitions. The team has evolved, adapting to new circumstances with fewer players and more matches. We’re ready to face whatever comes our way.”

Aiming for a Strong Finish

While Arsenal only needs a strong run to maintain pressure, Arteta emphasized that his squad’s goal remains clear: winning matches and keeping the title hopes alive.

“Being in this position is great, but our focus is on winning the next game,” Arteta said. “We always aim to win, starting from day one, and we’ll see where that leads us.”

As the season heats up, Arsenal’s resilience and determination will be critical in their quest to challenge Liverpool and secure a long-awaited Premier League triumph.
