Trump Calls for Jack Smith’s Removal Amid Ongoing Legal Battles

Former President Donald Trump has intensified his attacks on special counsel Jack Smith, suggesting during a recent interview that Smith should be “thrown out of the country.” This statement came during an appearance on WABC 770 AM’s “Cats & Cosby Show,” where Trump referred to Smith as “mentally deranged” while discussing immigration issues, a key topic for voters in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

This was not the first time Trump criticized Smith that day. Earlier, he labeled Smith a “crooked person” and expressed his intent to fire the special counsel if he were to win the election in November. “It’s so easy. I would fire him within two seconds,” Trump stated.

Appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2022, Smith has been overseeing investigations into Trump’s handling of classified documents post-presidency and his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. Recently, Trump secured a legal victory when Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the classified documents case, with his legal team arguing that Smith’s appointment was unlawful.

As Trump continues to navigate these legal challenges, his statements reflect a broader strategy to rally his base by framing Smith and the investigations as politically motivated attacks.
